Job Summary:
The Sports Information Director is responsible for managing and coordinating the dissemination of information related to sports events and activities within the organization. This role focuses on promoting and enhancing the organization's sports programs by creating compelling content and effectively communicating it to various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement comprehensive sports communication strategies to promote the organization's sports programs.
2. Create and distribute accurate and timely sports-related content, including press releases, game recaps, and feature stories.
3. Manage and maintain the organization's sports website, ensuring that it is up-to-date, engaging, and user-friendly.
4. Utilize various communication channels, including social media platforms, to promote sports events, achievements, and announcements.
5. Serve as the primary media contact for sports-related inquiries, coordinating interviews and press conferences as required.
6. Collaborate with coaches, athletes, and other team members to gather information and stories for publication.
7. Develop and maintain relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets to enhance media coverage of the organization's sports programs.
8. Coordinate photography and videography coverage during sports events and ensure the availability of high-quality visual content.
9. Assist in the development and execution of marketing campaigns to increase attendance and fan engagement at sports events.
10. Monitor media coverage and public perception of the organization's sports programs, providing regular reports and analysis to management.
11. Participate in sports-related event planning and provide support during game days, tournaments, and other sports activities.
12. Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in sports information management.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in communications, sports management, journalism, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in sports information management or related roles.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt content for different media platforms.
4. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
5. Proficient in using content management systems and social media platforms.
6. Demonstrated knowledge of sports terminology, rules, and regulations.
7. Familiarity with photography and videography techniques and equipment.
8. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
9. Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with athletes, coaches, and media personnel.
10. A passion for sports and a genuine interest in promoting sporting events and activities.
11. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
